Remembering James Reiss

Remembering James Reiss

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Biodex founder and former CEO James (Jamie) Reiss, who died peacefully on February 13, 2021 from complications of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Jamie’s generosity was boundless, and the connections he has made around the world are deep and far-reaching. A pioneer in the medical device industry, his incredible legacy will endure in the memories of all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

At seventy-four years old, Jamie had the energy and drive of many half his age. Before the pandemic and his retirement in 2020, he was still hopping flights to various countries, no doubt in search of the most authentic cuisine and hole-in-the-wall restaurants, in addition to meeting up with close business partners – of which he had many.

If there was one thing more inexhaustible than his frequent-flyer miles, it was his love and dedication to his family, in particular his children Amanda and Evan, their spouses, and his granddaughters Vivi, Ella, grandson Miles and baby Reiss (on the way!).

Then, there was his other family: his Biodex family.

Our consummate patriarch, Jamie often shared stories about how Biodex innovative products and technologies were being used around the world to help people get better. There wasn’t a holiday party or employee gathering where he wouldn’t take the opportunity to inspire us all to be proud of what we took part in creating.

“We do good things at this company,” he would say. And he was right.

He will always be remembered for the good things he did for us.

Donations in Jamie’s memory would be gratefully accepted by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org) and Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck (www.camppaquatuck.com) in his hometown of Center Moriches, New York.
