“I’ve been a dealer for Biodex Medical Systems, Inc. since the late 1980s,” states Mark R. Gravengaard, president of J. Gravengaard Corporation. “Over that period, the Atomlab product line has continually grown and improved. Their new Atomlab 960 Thyroid Uptake System, however, is a huge leap forward in terms of its overall design, user friendliness and ease of operation. The system is intuitive and easy for the user to grasp.” >>

“We had done our homework before purchasing our Atomlab 960 Thyroid Uptake System with optional DICOM software, so we already knew it was going to do what we needed,” says Chris Tollefson, Nuclear Medicine Supervisor at the Mayo Clinic Foundation in Scottsdale, AZ. “We didn’t fully realize until hooking it up and enabling the DICOM functionality, however, that it would save our staff so much time while doing even more than we expected.”

“According to Tollefson, an outdated thyroid uptake probe lacking work list functionality and the ability to save long-term results proved the impetus for a much needed upgrade. “Our technologists,” he explained, “were entering all information manually, including annotating uptake results on our images. Naturally, we were uncomfortable with this process as any time there is manual entry there is also a chance for error. So, we decided to start looking at some of the new units coming out which featured DICOM capability to help process our data, streamline workflow and save staff time. When we compared the top names in the field, the Atomlab 960 Thyroid Uptake System with optional DICOM software seemed the best choice. We put in a budgetary request, got it approved and have been very happy with our decision.”

“One of the big concerns with selecting a new thyroid uptake system,” explained Tollefson, “was the need for intuitive software that would interface both easily and seamlessly with the staff’s DICOM digital imaging workflow. We had it hooked up and functioning with our work list almost immediately after the software update was released,” continued Tollefson, “even better, everything worked exactly as we had expected.” >>
