The Balance System SD has been designed to meet the needs of a wide range of patients. Those looking to improve balance, increase agility, develop muscle tone and treat a wide variety of pathologies. It is also an excellent tool in the growing field of Fall Prevention. Many centers routinely balance-screen all elderly admitted for any rehabilitation, because most elderly suffer degradation of balance just by lying in a hospital bed for a few days.
The Balance System SD allows testing and training in both static and dynamic formats including the Clinical Test for Sensory Integration of Balance (CTSIB). Each Biodex Balance System is shipped with a comprehensive Fall Risk Screening and Conditioning Protocol to help the clinician begin a Fall Program.
Applications: Older Adult, Fall Risk Screening & Conditioning, Joint Replacement, Lower Extremity Amputee, Fractures and Ankle Sprains

BioStep is the system of choice for elderly with no history of exercise because it isn’t intimidating and can be adjusted in a series of stages. The smooth, continuous “zero joint impact” motion reduces the jarring effect commonly associated with other recumbent steppers. By combining lower extremity motion with upper body exercise, the BioStep provides a total body workout. This combination helps strengthen the muscles specifically associated with mobility, walking and balance.
Applications: Older Adult, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Neurorehabilitation and Orthopedic Rehabilitation

The only treadmill with an instrumented deck that monitors and records step length, step speed and right-to-left time distribution, the Gait Trainer 2 provides a comparison of real-time footfall to target step length. Audio and visual biofeedback prompt patients into their proper gait pattern and helps them stay “on target” in each phase of rehabilitation; this helps them begin to acquire the proper gait to reduce the risk of fall. Performance is documented with a printed color report.
Applications: Older Adult, Spinal Cord Injury, Stroke/Traumatic Brain Injury, Parkinson’s Disease, Low Back, Head Injury, Lower Extremity Amputee, Orthopedic Rehabilitation, Neurologic and Vestibular (often in combination with the Biodex Unweighing System)

The Unweighing System enables partial weight-bearing therapy to be conducted with the assurance of patient comfort and safety, and with convenient access to the patient for manual assistance and observation. It is excellent for supporting those debilitated by stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis or prolonged bed rest. Unlike simple patient lift devices, the Biodex Unweighing System incorporates a single-point dynamic suspension system that accommodates pelvic rotation and vertical displacement, both critical to functional gait mechanics.
Most important to controlling costs and risks, the Unweighing System eliminates the need for one or more therapists or aides solely to stabilize and support weak patients as they undergo gait therapy.
Applications: Older Adult, Spinal Cord Injury, Stroke/Traumatic Brain Injury, Parkinson’s Disease, Low Back, Head Injury, Lower Extremity Amputee, Orthopedic, Neurologic and Vestibular
