“I like the Atomlab 500Plus. It combines the Biodex Atomlab 500 Dose Calibrator with the Atomlab Wipe Test Counter making for a complete hot lab management system. I've found it to be versatile, accurate and dependable - and having so many features integrated into a single system is really convenient.

“Mostly, I count on the Atomlab 500Plus for its dose calibration functions, but I also use it for future dose calculation, radiopharmaceutical quality control, wipe counting and chromatography assessments. The system is fast, precise and totally reliable, which is exactly what I need to keep everything moving smoothly under a challenging workload with no room for error.

“In addition to the superior dose calibrator functions, I'm especially pleased with the Atomlab 500Plus wipe counter. Using the system's 64-channel analyzer I can count wipes, identify isotopes causing contamination based on spectrum, or QC pharmaceutical kits. The ability to set user-specific wipe locations and trigger levels, store wipe testing results for up to 50 locations, and generate a detailed wipe test report are also a plus. Calibration of the wipe test unit is uncomplicated. Simply perform a daily calibration and background count, then count the wipe for each predetermined location. User-defined trigger levels can be entered for any isotope at any location and the system will quickly determine if that location falls outside the set ranges. Individual isotope ROIs, along with the wide window, can be set to help identify the isotope(s) causing contamination. Any location can be entered as a restricted area, unrestricted area, sealed source or package. Results are displayed in dpm, cpm, µCi or kBq.

“Considering that the Atomlab 500Plus incorporates both a dose calibrator and wipe test counter, the system is very easy to use. Its small footprint economizes work space but the system still offers a full-sized, color touch screen. The firmware intuitively advances the user through any procedure selected but will not slow down experienced users. The system is pre-programmed for the 88 most commonly used radionuclides, any 12 of which can be selected from the touch screen display. Measurements are shown in curies or Becquerels and all vital data is captured and documented.

“We are extremely pleased with our new Atomlab 500Plus. The system includes the Atomlab 500 Dose Calibrator plus a well counter, making it a cost effective and precise choice to cover our radioactivity measurement needs. We have also coupled our dose calibrator to the Pinestar software package, allowing data to be transferred automatically from the Atomlab 500Plus to our hot lab computer - which saves time and eliminates possible data entry errors. It is efficient, fast and accurate with an adjustable wide window, individual isotope settings, and energy spectrums with individual regions of interest (ROI). The user can set specific wipe locations and trigger levels, and wipes exceeding these levels are instantly recognized as they flash on screen and print out in red. Wipe testing results are stored and reports can be generated in CPM and DPM. Automated QA testing includes Chi Square, FWHM and MDA protocols.

“The Atomlab 500Plus is clearly an improvement over other dose calibrators we've used. It is cutting edge technology that allows us to accurately perform our QC functions as soon as we arrive each morning so our doses will be ready whenever we need them. When required, the system will also capture and document the data to make compliance a snap.
