Biodex Employees Raise $8K for American Cancer Society

Relay for Life 2012For the third year in a row, Biodex Medical Systems, Inc. has participated in the Center Moriches Relay for Life, the fund-raising arm for the American Cancer Society.  Relay for Life is a life-changing event that helps communities across the globe celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.

This year there were 26 people representing Biodex, including employees and family members alike. Team members raised a total of $8,000.00 for the American Cancer Society with activities including a Chinese Auction, BBQ lunch, raffles and bake sales prior to the Relay.  At the Relay itself we sold popcorn and had a bounce house donated for all the kids to enjoy. >>

On June 13th five of our employees volunteered at Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck.  Despite the rain, they worked tediously without complaining.  Their task at hand was to create a Memorial Garden in honor of those children who went to camp and have since passed on. >>

The BioSteppers, are a team of employees that participated in the Center Moriches Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society. Team members took turns walking for 12 hours, noon to midnight, in an effort to raise money and promote cancer awareness at Center Moriches High School. Last year in 2010, we raised in excess of $4,300.00 and for 2011, we raised over $10,000! For more information, please click here.

Biodex Employees Volunteer for Daffodil Days

This March was our third year volunteering with Federal Express and the American Cancer Society for the Daffodil Days fundraiser. Biodex employees met with fellow volunteers at the FedEx building in Calverton on March 19th to sort and pack more than 50,000 daffodils for delivery to patients in health facilities throughout Suffolk County.

We enjoyed some good laughs and camaraderie while packing orders; some with bears, plain bunches or as potted plants.   >>

Also during September, we held a fundraising lunch for employees to raise money and awareness for The Retreat, a safe haven in East Hampton for victims of domestic violence. Our employees donated trays of penne ala vodka, ziti, sausage & peppers, macaroni & cheese, eggplant parmigana, meatballs, pasta salad, garden salad, antipasto salad, pasta fagioli, escarole w/garlic, broccoli w/garlic and lots of bread. Everyone enjoyed their lunch while funding a good cause!
